Use this dialog box to Add Custom Fields. To create custom fields, you must be the only user logged into Contract Management. All other users must be logged out. See the Current Users in Contract Management Dialog Box.
Caution: Do not exit this dialog box by clicking the (X) in the upper right corner of the dialog box. This will prevent anyone from using Contract Management until the service is restarted by an administrator. Click either Save and Close if you added a custom field or Cancel to exit the dialog box.
Column Name
Enter the database column name to apply the custom field to.
Display As
The name of the custom field.
Location
Select the module to which the custom field applies.
Type
The custom field's type:
Length
The number of characters that users can enter in the custom field.
Decimal
For custom fields of types Quantity and Currency, the number of decimal places used. For example, for 2, two digits will be placed to the right of the decimal.
Unique
A check indicates that the entry made in this field must be unique. It cannot be exactly the same as in another document for this module.
Required
A check indicates a required field. The user is required to enter information in this field.
Dictionary
A check indicates dictionary definitions for this custom field.
The box in the left column will become a document icon, to indicate that there are dictionary definitions associated with this custom field.
Allow Users to Enter Items Not in the List
Select to allow users to type items directly in custom fields dictionary fields in addition to being able to choose pre-defined items by clicking Select.
However, these items will not be added to the custom fields dictionary. This field is only available when you select the Dictionary option, and the Dictionary option is only available for custom fields of types Character and Upper Case.
Add
Click to open the Dictionary Item Dialog Box to add a new dictionary item to this custom field.
Add is inactive until the Type field is set to Character, and the Dictionary option is selected.
Copy To
Click to open the Select dialog box to copy the items from this custom field to another field.
This overwrites any items currently in this field.
Copy To is inactive unless a custom dictionary item already exists in the Dictionary Items section of this dialog box.
Copy From
Click to open the Select dialog box to select an item to copy from.
This overwrites any items currently in this field.
Copy From is inactive until the Type field is set to Character and the Dictionary option is selected.
Name
For dictionaries only. The name for each dictionary entry.
Description
For dictionaries only. The description of each dictionary entry.
Remove
Click to remove the item from the list.
Note: In Oracle, the Column Name, Location, Type, Length and Decimal fields cannot be edited once the custom field has been added to the database.
