Create a Submittal from a Drawing

Previous TopicNext TopicContents

You can use a drawing to create a submittal. After you create a submittal from a drawing, the new submittal and the drawing are linked. This allows you to quickly access one from the other.

To create a submittal from a drawing:

  1. In the Project View, expand a project folder.
  2. Expand the Logs folder and then click Drawings.
  3. On the Drawings page, click Edit Document by the drawing you want to use to create a submittal.
  4. On the Drawing page, from the Select an action... drop-down list, click Generate Submittal.
  5. In the Generate Submittal dialog box, specify whether the new submittal will list the same issues and attachments as the drawing.
  6. Click Finish.

After you click Finish, the Submittal page opens with the new submittal. The Submittal name and title are auto-generated from the name and title of the drawing used to create it. The submittal Number is also auto-generated.

On the Details tab, the Drawing field provides a link to the drawing that you used to create the submittal. Similarly, the Details tab of the drawing used to create the submittal now provides a link to the new submittal in the Submittal field.

The Issues and Attachments tabs show the same issues and attachments as the drawing used to create the submittal, if you enabled these options in the Generate Submittal dialog box.
