Import Data into a Contract Management Project

You can import data from comma separated values (CSV spreadsheet with headers or CSV spreadsheet) to insert and update data for the modules listed in the table below. The import file must contain specific column names on the first line of the CSV file being imported. For an overview of the import function, see Import Data into a Contract Management Project Overview. This topic provides the guidelines for preparing import files.

Before you can import a file, you must first create a CSV export file with headers. You can then add or update information in this file, and, after saving, the file will import the altered file back into Contract Management. For more information see the following:

To import a file:

• Either right-click on a project and choose Import, or from the Select an action drop-down list on a log window choose Import to open the Import Dialog Box.
• In the File field, enter the file name you are importing into Contract Management (or click Browse to locate it). This is the export file you created earlier.
• From the Location drop-down list, select the module you are populating with new data.
• Click Import to import the data. This process adds new entries to the specified module, and updates existing documents.

  Note: Import automatically displays the Import Statistics Dialog Box, which contains information on rows read from the file and inserted or updated in the Contract Management database. Click Close to close the Import Statistics dialog box. To print any errors, click Print.
